Atherosclerotic Plaque refers to the fatty deposits in the walls of the arteries. It occurs over decades, slowly bulging into the space inside the arteries, narrowing the path for blood to flow.

This can cause problems as narrow or blocked arteries can’t deliver enough blood, oxygen & nutrients to the rest of the body. Most common causes of Atherosclerotic Plaque are –

  1. High levels of LDL (“bad”) Cholestrol circulating in the blood
  2. Triglycerides
  3. Toxins like those from Smoking

Treatment that can be done to reduce/remove the plague includes –

  1. Lifestyle changes (Warning: No side-effects) …. For 4 simple changes, refer to blog 1
  2. Medication
  3. Surgery (Angioplasty, Bypass)

Note: Both Medication & Surgery comes with lot of side-effects & is a temporary and not a permanent cure
